About Me

20+ years of individualized therapy.

Hello! I’m glad you found my psychology practice.

I’m an expert in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) which is the foundation of the most effective, evidence-based psychological treatments available today. I also just genuinely enjoy people—I like learning individual stories and want to help navigate difficult and challenging times whenever I can. In addition to providing therapy to people with a wide variety of clinical needs for more than 20 years, I have trained hundreds of providers--psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and peer support specialists--both in the classroom and via clinical supervision. My research on stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD, chronic pain and fatigue, schizophrenia, OCD, sleep, and other topics has been published in top peer-reviewed journals.

In terms of my own training, I received a PhD in Clinical Psychology and MLS (Master of Legal Studies) from the University of Nebraska, an MA in Psychology from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, and a BA in Political Science from Yale University. I completed my pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine. I am a licensed clinical psychologist in Washington State. My practice is centered on individual therapy with adults and older adolescents (16-17). My primary focus is to establish trust, comfort, and rapport in order to facilitate recovery from social anxiety, depression, addiction, health anxiety, panic disorder, OCD, insomnia, pain, fatigue and most other struggles for which CBT is a good fit. I also work with life changes and challenges, parenting, and emotion regulation/anger. During my time at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, I worked extensively with members of the LGBTQ and BIPOC communities and all are welcome in my practice.

Personally, I have been married for 20 years and have enjoyed raising two very tall (but otherwise very different) sons and a large yellow lab. I volunteer with Gig Harbor Little League and Peninsula School District. For fun I enjoy singing and playing music, occasionally joining local theater productions, playing racquetball, fishing, and trading sport cards.
